ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Liverpool could disrupt Manchester City's rumoured pursuit of Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso as they target defensive reinforcements in the event of Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure this summer. Calciomercato report Cambiaso's relationship with Juve has broken down and the Serie A giants are inclined to sell the 25-year-old this summer, with City's interest in the Italy international known since January when they attempted to bring him in as a replacement for Kyle Walker, who joined AC Milan on loan.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Alongside City, Liverpool's interest in Cambiaso has been known for a few months now. It was reported in March that the Reds had identified Cambiaso as a potential target for the summer, with Alexander-Arnold's future still up in the air. The England international has been heavily linked with joining Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract and he has not yet joined Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in penning new terms at Anfield.

DID YOU KNOW?
Cambiaso is primarily a left-back but has shown his versatility in operating on the right flank during his time in Turin. His potential arrival would add competition for places on both sides of defence, with a new alternative to stalwart left-back Andy Robertson expected to be pursued in the near future. Bournemouth ace Mios Kerkez has also been mooted as a possible target and the Hungarian sent a message of congratulations to compatriot Dominik Szoboszlai after their Premier League title triumph was confirmed.

WHAT NEXT FOR CAMBIASO?
Cambiaso is still getting game time at Juve despite looking likely to leave the club in the coming months, starting the 2-0 win over Monza on Sunday. The Bianconeri are fourth in Serie A as they look to secure Champions League football for next season.
